Brenda Lee Fredrick

Brenda Lee Fredrick, 57, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the RMC Hospital in Manchester.  She was born on January 23, 1959, in Manchester, the daughter of Donald and Marilyn (Kaiser)  Fredrick.  Brenda was baptized on March 1, 1959, and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in  Strawberry Point.  Brenda attended  school at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton and was a 1978 Starmont graduate.  She received her B.A. at Augsburg College in Minneapolis in 1983 and went on to the University of Missouri to work on her M.A.

While she was working on her Master's Degree, the Rubella virus reactivated and totally disabled her.  The rest of her life was spent in hospitals, rehab centers, and nursing homes, with the last 25 years at Scenic Acres near St. Olaf, Iowa, and the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.

Brenda loved spending time with her family, enjoyed playing card games, music, visiting on the phone, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her parents, Donald and Marilyn Fredrick of Strawberry Point; her sister, Nancy (Mark) Miehe of Jesup; a nephew, Kevin Miehe of Bettendorf; and a niece, Kristen Bazaldua of Mesa, Arizona.

Brenda was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorials may be designated to Helen Keller International, Mission in Christ Lutheran Church, or Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.
