Charles Curtis Polkinghorn, Sr., 63, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on January 27, 2018, at UnityPoint Finley Hospital in Dubuque. He was born on October 3, 1954, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to John “Tony” William Knapp and Marcella Davenport and raised by Kurt Polkinghorn and his mother, Marcella. He attended school in Dubuque through the tenth grade.

In 1972, Charles was united in marriage to Sandra Murray in Dubuque. Three children were born to this union. The couple later divorced.

Charles worked as a custodian for Area Residential Care (ARC) in Dubuque. He loved listening to classic country music and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his three children, Charles Polkinghorn, Jr., and Zach Polkinghorn, both of Cedar Rapids, and Stephanie (Jason) Meck, of Platteville, Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler Meck.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Polkinghorn, and his sister, Margaret Trautwein.
