Debra Ann (Schwietert) Ross

Debra Ann Ross, 59, of Colesburg, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.  She was born on December 30, 1956, in Manchester, the daughter of Warren and Mazie (Trottnow) Schwietert.  Deb was raised and educated in the Colesburg area, and was an Ed-Co 1975 High School graduate.

On May 31, 1975, Deb was united in marriage to John Ross at the Colesburg Methodist Church.  Together they made their home in Colesburg.  Deb continued her education at Upper Iowa University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services.

Deb worked as a journalist and photographer for the Guttenberg, Dyersville, and Edgewood papers.  She also was a past employee of the Lone Pine Country Club, was a librarian for the City of Colesburg, and was a school substitute.

Deb enjoyed fishing, crafts, gardening and she most cherished spending time with children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, John Ross of Colesburg; four children, Jonathan Ross of Dyersville, Jeffrey Ross of Cedar Rapids, Adam (Brittany) Ross of Davenport, and Amber (Chris) Quartier of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Alexis Ross, Bryce Ross, Caitlin Ross, Declan Ross; a granddaughter on the way; and two brothers, Kenneth (Helen) Schwietert of Colesburg and Robert Schwietert of Manchester (who died on October 17, 2016).

Deb was preceded in death by her parents; and her twin brother, David Schwietert.
