Donald “Duck” Eugene Davis, 67, of Masonville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born on June 9, 1949, at Independence, Iowa, the son of Frank “Buck” and Evelyn (Hansen) Davis. Donald was raised and educated in the area and attended Dundee High School.
Donald served honorably in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. Prior to and after his service to his country, he worked as a heavy equipment operator until he retired. Donald was united in marriage to Mary Letts on August 26, 1989, at the Manchester United Methodist Church. He was a Masonville Volunteer Firefighter and a member of the American Legion.
Donald was a Green Bay Packer Fan and enjoyed working on his century farm.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis of Masonville; three children, David (Kandice) Meader of Pontiac, Illinois; Todd Davis of Manchester; and Eddie (Kristy) Davis of Masonville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (Bert) Miller of Edgewood; and a nephew, Bret (Erin) Miller of Waterloo.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
