Emma Jean (Stephens) Senters

Emma Jean Senters, 88, formerly of Dundee, Iowa, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa. She was born on April 10, 1929, in Banner, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Virginia (Weddington) Stephens. Emma was raised in the area, and graduated from Betsy Layne High School in Stanville, Kentucky.

On October 15, 1946, Emma was united in marriage to Clyde Senters,Sr. in Pikeville, Kentucky. Three children were born to this union. In 1963, the family moved to Dundee, Iowa, where Clyde was the principal at the Dundee School.

Emma worked for 33 years as a line supervisor at the Ertl Toy Company in Dyersville. She was very active in unionizing the employees. Emma was an avid crocheter and walker. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Emma often displayed a passion for sweets and Diet Pepsi.

Survivors include one son, Clyde (Joyce) Senters , Jr. of St. Charles, Illinois; her daughter, Marquetta Senters of Amana; her daughter-in-law, Karen Senters; four grandchildren, Marie, Todd, Michelle, and Travis; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Virginia Stephens; her husband, Clyde Senters, Sr.; and one son, Jerry A. Senters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Garden Court Activity Fund at Windmill Manor, 2332 Liberty Drive, Coralville, Iowa, 52241.
