Lucille Mae (Watkins) Hildebrand

Lucille Mae Hildebrand, 92, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away at her home on Monday, May 29, 2017.  She was born on January 27, 1925, in Oelwein, the daughter of Denny and Marian (Kaylor) Watkins.  She was raised and attended school in Oelwein.

Lucille was united in marriage to LeRoy Spragg on July 15, 1945.  Four children were born to this union.  They later divorced.

On February 14, 1970, Lucille married Richard Hildebrand.  Together they resided north of Edgewood where they farmed.  Lucille worked over the years at Woolworth’s and DeKalb in Oelwein, and also for Midland, Belmont, Ratheon, Modern Cleaners, and City Laundry prior to her marriage to Richard.

Lucille was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed helping make quilts for mission projects and knitting.

Survivors include her children, James (Patricia) Spragg of Hudson, Florida, and Alan (Karen) Spragg of Oelwein; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her daughter, Jean Spragg; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Douglas Unglesbee; one great-grandson, Joey St. John; and her sister, Dorothy Watkins Truog.
