Margaret Mary (Recker) Miller

Margaret M. Miller, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  She was born on April 25, 1921, in Worthington, the daughter of John and Clara (Tegler) Recker. 

On June 30, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage to Herbert Miller at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.  Five children were born to this union.  Together they helped Louie Ryan farm and then later began farming on their own in rural Manchester.  They retired and moved to town in 1979.  Herb passed away in 2010.

Margaret was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley and a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.  She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America.  Margaret loved to play cards, especially Bridge, and enjoyed her garden.  She lived at the Meadows for the past eight years.  Margaret loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. 

Survivors include her five children, Joan Miller of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Pat (Bill) Serbousek of Cedar Rapids, Richard Miller of Solon, David (Jenny) Miller of Iowa City, and Daniel Miller of Lancaster, California; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Andy Miller; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Lemmon and Anna Jean Harris, both of Manchester.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Milller; a son-in-law, Doneldon Dennis; two grandchildren, Gregory Kane and Sarah Serbousek-Miller; two sisters, Armella Besler and Lucinda Gudenkauf; and four brothers, Cyril, Allie, Ray, and Leo Recker.
