Matthew Robert Smith

Matthew Robert Smith, 64, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at his home. He was born on April 10, 1953, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the son of Memory G. and Eva Marlena (Kemnitz) Smith.

Matthew graduated from Ardmore High School in Oklahoma. He married Theresa Schmitt. One son was born to this union. The couple later divorced.

Matthew drove truck for 30-plus accident-free years. In 2008, he moved to Manchester to be closer to his son. He retired in 2015. Matthew enjoyed motorcycles, watching “Gunsmoke,” and, especially, spending time with Levon.

Survivors include his son, Levon (Lynne Savago) Smith of Manchester; a daughter, Serenity Poulson of Waco, Texas; and a brother, Gailon (Kimberly) Smith of Ada, Oklahoma.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Paul Smith and Johnny Davidson; and his beloved grandfather, Henry Kemnitz.
