Viola Marie (Ziel) Holz

Viola Marie Holz, 90, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  She was born on January 1, 1926, in Delaware, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mabel (Engelmen) Ziel.    Viola was raised and educated in the Colesburg area, and was a Colesburg High School graduate.

On August 10, 1941, Viola was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  The most important thing in her life was her love for Jehovah, and teaching her children to have that same love.

On July 7, 1957, Viola was united in marriage to Louis Fredrick Holz.  Six children were born to this union.  Together they farmed in the Colesburg area and then moved to Thorpe in 1966.  Viola also had a cleaning business.

Viola loved spending time with family, especially grandchildren.  She had a passion for gardening, canning the produce, tending to her strawberry patch, sewing, and weaving.

Survivors include her five children, Linda Holz, Gary (Trina) Holz, Tim (Ginger) Holz, Sandy (Neil) Krist and Jack Holz all of Manchester; seven grandchildren; a sister, Elnor Johnson of Edgewood; and several nieces and nephews.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis on March 18, 2015; one son, Randy; a grandson, Evan Holz; and seven siblings, Louis, Clarence, Evelyn, Alvina, Louida, Naomi, and Berniece.
