William "Bill" Arthur Billings

September 7, 1942 ~ March 5, 2017 (age 74)

William A Billings, 74, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home Sunday, March 5, 2017.  He was born on September 7, 1942, the son of E. Errol and Flora (Heiserman) Billlings.  Bill was raised and educated in Delhi, and graduated from Maquoketa Valley in 1960.  He served honorably in the U.S. Army from February 13, 1962, until June 15, 1963, and then transferring to the reserves until  February 12, 1968.

 

On May 27, 1967, Bill was united in marriage to Marge Kintzle at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.  Six children were blessed to this union.   Bill was employed by Bradco / Paladin Industries in Delhi for 50 years, retiring in 2014.    He also farmed near Delhi.

 

 Bill loved taking coffee to his sweetheart on the deck and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching Western movies, having coffee with his brother, Bruce, taking drives, and monitoring  the reconstruction of the Delhi Dam.

 

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 50 years, Marge Billings of Delhi; his six children, Becky (Dan) Offerman of Earlville, Kris (Ron) Becker of Manchester, Jason (Jennifer) Billings of Lancaster, Wisconsin, Jared Billings of Delhi, Cindy (John) Hanenburg of Park View, and Justin (Marie) Billings of Marion; 18 grandchildren; and three siblings, Lydia Ellefson of Oxford Junction, Wanita Beam of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bruce (Emily) Billings of Delhi.

 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
