Charles “Chuck” Rex Stone, 86, of Edgewood, Iowa, died on Monday, December 14, 2009, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on August 11, 1923, in Edgewood, the son of Charles H. and Caroline (Curran) Stone. Chuck was raised and educated in the Edgewood area, attending rural school and Edgewood High School.
On May 1, 1942, Chuck was united in marriage to Jennie Every in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they farmed in the area and Chuck was a bus mechanic for the Edgewood-Colesburg school. Four children were born to this union. His wife died in 1983. Chuck married Neva Nolte on August 11, 1984 in Cedar Rapids. He retired in 1988 and they wintered in Texas for several years.
Chuck loved to fish, wood working, and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Neva of Edgewood; his three children, Curtis (Barb) Stone of Edgewood, Carol (Pat) Stone of Edgewood, and Charles E. (Pam) Stone of Fredericksburg; three step-children, Jody (Larry) Lippmann of Cedar Rapids, Jeffrey Note of Davenport and Judy (Jay) Hartman of Mechanicsville; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jennie; a daughter still born, Mary; one granddaughter, Jennifer; and six siblings, Hildred Meyer, Thelma Estling, Madge Kuehl, Edgar Stone, Juanita White, and Zelda Brown.
