Arnold A. “Arnie” Koloc, 80, of Dundee, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was born on October 20, 1938, in Waterloo, the son of Miles and Hazel (Arnold) Koloc. Arnie was raised and educated in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High School. He then served honorably in the United States Navy.
In 1961, Arnie was united in marriage to Stella Bitz in Decorah. Five children were born to this union. Arnie and Stella owned and operated the Hi-Way Café in Strawberry Point, where all of the Koloc children worked. Arnie was a lifetime electrician for IBEW. He worked as a foreman at several nuclear plants until his retirement.
In 2006, Arnie was united in marriage to Vivian Petrik. The couple resided together in Oelwein.
Anyone who knew Arnie, knew he loved gardening, fishing, and hunting. He especially loved trout fishing at Backbone State Park, and fishing and camping at the Mississippi River.
Survivors include his five children, Tammy (Gary) Hammell of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Lori (Doug) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point, Connie (Darrel) Schulte of Cedar Rapids, Deb Linder of Hedrick, and A.J. (Pam) Koloc of Dundee; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rita (Steve)
Dellenger of Virginia, Kay (Danny) Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, and Eileen (Frank) Monachino, Pennsylvania.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Koloc.
