Betty Jo (Wendt) Meisgeier

Betty Jo Meisgeier, 88, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein.  She was born on March 30, 1931, in Manchester, the daughter of William and Laura (Aldrich) Wendt.  Betty was raised and educated in Delaware County and graduated  from Manchester High School in 1949.

On June 18, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Meisgeier. Together they farmed near Ryan and moved to Arlington in 1958. Five children were blessed to this union.  Betty loved spending time with family and enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening.

Survivors include her five children, Connie (Doug) Johnson of Cedar Falls, Deb (Don) Bahe of Stanley, Robert (Kathy) Meisgeier of Maynard, Brian (Becky) Meisgeier of Arlington, and Kay (Barry) Christenson of Crystal, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren, Jay Johnson, Shannon Bruns, Jeremy Johnson,  Kendra Harbeck, Joe Bahe, Ann Richardson, Dan Bahe, Lindsay  Moberg, Kenny Meisgeier, Garrett Meisgeier, Jared Meisgeier, Kenna Meisgeier, and Sophie Christenson; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1984; her parents; her brothers, Wilbur and Willis Wendt; and a sister, Phyllis Hamlett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington.
