Charles "Chuck" Meyers Obituary

Charles Edward “Chuck” Meyers, 66 of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 in a car-semi accident near Fairbank. He was born on August 20, 1952, in Edgewood, the son of Clyde R. and Mary Jane (Thomas) Meyers. Chuck lived in the Edgewood area his entire life growing up on various farms arounds Clayton County. He enjoyed helping around the farm, was a member of the FFA, the Woodcenter Eagles 4H club, and the Edgewood Masonic Lodge. Chuck graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 1970. In the time after graduation, Chuck worked various jobs around Edgewood including opening and operating the “C & C Standard Station” with his dad Clyde.

On June 8, 1985, Chuck was united in marriage to Debbie Lewin at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport. Two children were born to this union. Chuck worked as a semi-truck driver for most of his life. He began his career as a cross-country driver working for his now wife’s dad, Eugene (Bud) Lewin and then nine years driving for Kelchen Grain.  Currently, Chuck was employed at Silver Edge Cooperative where he has spent the last 27 years as a driver and cherished member of the Silver Edge family.

Chuck always had a smile and was willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed mushroom hunting, turkey hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. Chuck was a meticulous and prideful man. He took care of his family first and foremost, was beloved as “Grandpa” and “B Ba”, and always had time for a good laugh with friends. His belongings were in mint condition and he was known around the community for the shiniest blue semi on the road.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 34 years, Deb; his daughter Leanne (Jared) Tucker and their children Emersyn, Brooks, and grandbaby on the way of Clarksville; his son, Mitchell Meyers of Edgewood; his mother, Mary Jane Meyers of Edgewood; four siblings, Deb (Larry Schmidt) Meyers of Manchester, Darla (Verdeen) Waterman of Manchester, Diane (Tim) O’dell of Greeley, and Sheryl (Tom) Hansel of Edgewood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin (Chuck) Niehaus of Colesburg, Brad (Laura) Lewin of Greeley, Scott (Marlana) Lewin of Cedar Rapids, and Dawn (Jeff) Kelchen of Edgewood; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Meyers; his father-and-mother-in-law Eugene and Shirley Lewin.
