Clarinda Elizabeth Thole, 93, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at her residence in Manchester. She was born on May 21, 1925, in Worthington, the daughter of Aloysius Anton and Clara Marie (Willenbring) Klostermann. She attended Area Country School in Dodge Township.
On November 21, 1949, Clarinda was united in marriage to Alfred E. “Fritz” Thole in Dyersville. Seven children were born to this union. Together they farmed near Earlville for a short time until moving to their farm east of Manchester. Although Fritz died on April 16, 2004, Clarinda remained on the farm.
Clarinda was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed knitting and quilting. Clarinda loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, James (Linda) Thole of Manchester, Diane (Jeff) Larsen of Manchester, Rick (Kris) Thole of Manchester, Joyce (Brian) Lambert of St. Cloud, Florida, David Thole of Manchester, and Allan Thole of Red Oak; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Frank) Kelm of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Clarinda was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Thole; a great-grandson Phillip Gaffney; her parents; and three brothers, Gerald, Erwin, and Roger Klostermann.
