David Lee Gearhart

David L. Gearhart,78, of Dundee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at his home in rural Dundee.  David Lee Gearhart was born on January 29, 1939, at Willard Hospital in Manchester, the son of Vernon L. and Phyllis (LeClere) Gearhart.  He graduated from Edgewood High School with the class of 1957.  David then enlisted in the National Guard with Company D 133 Infantry.

On February 1, 1959, David was united in marriage to Barbara Moser at the Methodist Church in Greeley.  Four children were born to this union.  David and Barbara farmed together in Richland Township near Dundee all of his life.

David enjoyed watching wildlife and reading in his later years.  He was always up for a good visit with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Gearhart of Dundee; four children, Terry (Lori) Gearhart of Edgewood, Debra (John) Lower of Williamsburg, Dan (Vicki) Gearhart of Winthrop, and Nancy (Eliot) Winch of Buck Creek; two brothers, Richard Gearhart of Marion and Ronald(Linda) Gearhart of Manchester; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Donna Cannon-Gearhart; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond and John Moser.
