Debra Kay Young, 66, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018, at her residence in Strawberry Point. She was born on November 21, 1951, in Dubuque, the daughter of Ray and Amanda (Bruggeman) Rubly. Deb was raised on a farm in Petersburg and graduated from Dyersville-Beckman High School.
In 1968, Deb married Donald Young, Jr. The couple lived in Earlville, and two children were born to this union.
Through the years, Deb worked at Ertl Company and Exide. For more than 20 years, she lived in Strawberry Point, where she attended St. Mary Catholic Church.
Deb loved animals, but her cats brought her much enjoyment. She also loved talking to people, going out to eat, and planting flowers. She was always willing to help others in need and was a very hard worker. Deb also had a great love for country music.
Survivors include her two children, Marcia Downs (Mark Zieser) of Rowley and Rick Young of Center Point; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sister Ann Rubly, OSF, and Sister Lene Rubly, OSF, both of Dubuque; a brother, Jack (Mary Ann) Rubly of Farley; and a brother-in-law, Harley Willenborg of Dyersville.
Deb was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rose Ann Willenborg; and a nephew, Keith Willenborg.
