Donald Jack Fredrick, 84, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on November 12, 2018, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was born on April 14, 1934, in Oelwein, the son of Elmer and Julia (Weger) Fredrick, and was a 1952 graduate of Strawberry Point High School.
Don worked at a lumberyard for two years and then took over the family farm. On May 6, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Kaiser at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point. Two daughters were born to this union.
Don was an insurance agent through the years for German Mutual and Grinnell Mutual Insurance Companies. He served as a Clayton County Supervisor for eight years, from 1980 to 1988, and also owned the Berry Nice Antique Store in Strawberry Point.
Don loved to tease his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, shooting pool and watching Hawkeye sports and the Green Bay Packers. He and Marilyn wintered in Texas for many years and loved to travel. They were founding members of Mission in Christ Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Strawberry Point; his daughter, Nancy (Mark) Miehe of Jesup; and two grandchildren, Kevin Miehe and Kristen Bazaldua.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda Fredrick in 2016.
