Doris “Dorie” Dingbaum Mallicoat, 89, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on March 2, 1929, in Earlville, the second child of Lee and Ada (Sauerbry) Bissell. Dorie was raised and educated in Greeley and was a 1947 graduate of Greeley High School.
On April 27, 1948, Dorie was united in marriage to Luvern Dingbaum at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Four children were born to this union. The couple farmed together for most of their lives near Manchester and Petersburg. They divorced in 1982 and Dorie moved to Manchester at that time.
Dorie loved baking cookies and cakes and was known as the “Cookie Lady” and the “Cake Pan Lady”. Her collection of pans numbered 370! Dorie’s Santa face cookies were loved by all. She loved baking, playing Bingo, and when she was younger, she loved to dance. Dorie enjoyed life and loved all of her friends and family.
Survivors include her four children, Michael (Sandy) Dingbaum of Earlville, Mary Louise Waterman of Guttenberg, Dennis (Sylvia) Dingbaum of DeWitt, and Deanne (Gary) Rahe of Dyersville; 13 grandchildren, Mitzi (Russ) Hoeger of Earlville, Matt (Heather) Dingbaum of DeWitt, Mitch (Stefanie) Dingbaum of Earlville, Joe Waterman (Greg Hayes) of San Francisco, California, Jim (Beth) Waterman of Anamosa, Todd (Holly) Dingbaum of Maquoketa, Tami (Pat) Paisley of Holy Cross, Tobey (Shannon) Dingbaum of Hartselle, Alabama, Derek Dingbaum of Davenport, Angela (Ben) Blomfield of London, England, Kevin (Gina) Rahe of Farley, Keith (Charli) Rahe of Gilberts, Illinois, and Kurt (Jamie) Rahe of Colesburg; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; her siblings, Donna Elledge of Edgewood, Leo (Toby) Bissell of Cedar Rapids, Bill (Shirley) Bissell of Lebanon, Missouri, and Pat (Dale) Spangrove of Anamosa; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bissell of Manchester and JoAnn Bissell of Fort Collins, Colorado; her best friend, Doris Lei of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bonnie Hamlett and Lois McDowell; two brothers, Dale and Vance Bissell; a son-in-law, Rudy Waterman; one niece; and two nephews.
