Edith Mae Boll, 91, of Dundee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Edith was born on October 11, 1926, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Verneal (Henry) Bigelow. Edith was raised in the Lamont area and graduated from Lamont High School.
On January 8, 1949, Edith was united in marriage to Merwin A. Boll in Iowa City. Five children were born to this union. The couple farmed together north of Dundee and later moved to town. Edith also worked as a bartender for 28 years at the Corner Tap.
Edith loved reading and playing her scratch tickets. She also enjoyed watching the Cubs, “Wheel of Fortune”, and “Storage Wars” on TV. Edith appreciated being with her dialysis friends. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include four children, Gary Boll of Ashville, North Carolina, Ricky (Betsy) Boll of Dundee, Kathy (Harold) Hopp of Solon, and Carolyn Boll of Dundee; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete Bigelow of California; five sisters-in-law, Linda Toms, Karen Petlon, Betty Boll, Mary Boll, and Sherry Bigelow; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Janice) Boll and Jerry (Wendy) Boll; and several nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merwin Boll in 1989; one daughter, Gloria Jean in infancy; and three brothers, Richard, Alfred, and Charles Bigelow; and one sister, Rosalind Brown.
