Irma Thelma Reth, 90, of Strawberry Point, formerly of Edgewood and Delhi, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Circle of Life Missions Boarding Home in Strawberry Point. She was born on October 16, 1927, at North Buena Vista, the daughter of Fred and Ruby (Hosier) Tinkey. She attended Clayton County rural schools through eighth grade.
Irma married Lloyd J. Reth on February 16, 1944. One son was born to this union. Irma actively farmed with Lloyd near Delhi. She also worked as a custodian and cook at Maquoketa Valley Schools for more than 30 years. After Lloyd passed away in 2010, Irma moved to the Edgewood Assisted Living and then the Edgewood Convalescent Home. Later she moved to Circle of Life Missions Boarding Home in Strawberry Point.
Irma enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, knitting, and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd “Butch” (Charlotte “Lotti”) Reth, Jr., of Delhi; three grandchildren, Shawn Reth (special friend Stacia Koontz) of Delhi, Daniela (special friend Mike Fangman) of Walker, and Stacy (Steve) Wiggins of Burns, Tennessee; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Laverne (Theresa) Tinkey of Lamont; two brothers-in-law, Dean (Irene) Curtis of Decatur, Illinois, and Melvin Reth of Iowa; a sister-in-law, Verna Euwer of Palmer, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Reth, Sr.; her parents; three brothers, Bud, James, and Bill Tinkey; and a sister, Alberta Hall.
