Lynette Lelia (Cowles) West

Lynette Lelia (Cowles) West, 60, of Lamont, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Lynette was born on August 2, 1956, in Waterloo, the daughter of Robert and Velma (Hill) Cowles.  She was raised and educated in the Lamont area, attending Starmont schools.

In 1974, Lynette was united in marriage to Randall Popham. Four children were born to this union. The couple later divorced.

Lynette was a daycare provider, running an in-home daycare for many years. She enjoyed shopping and especially treasured family get-togethers, bonfires, and camping. Lynette also loved keeping in touch with her Facebook friends and was an animal lover.

Survivors include her four children, Kevin (Suzanne Janssen) Popham of Arlington, Jeremy (Connie) Popham of Lamont, Melissa (Jason) Elledge of Aurora, and Mica Popham of Oelwein; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Pat) Cowles of Iowa City; and a sister, Jane (Stuart) Seedorff of Lamont.

Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kevin Cowles, and a sister, Jeanette Cowles.
