MarJean Mary Billhorn, 70, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born on July 2, 1949, in Dyersville, the daughter of Robert and Germaine (Drees) Weigel. She graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1967 and then attended beauty school in Iowa City.
On February 6, 1976, MarJean was united in marriage to Lance Billhorn at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Two children were born to this union. The couple has resided in Manchester since 1982. MarJean was a hairdresser and did in-home daycare. She was later employed as a secretary for Paris Trucking and then worked for the Delaware County Community Life Services.
MarJean loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and visiting casinos.
MarJean is survived by her husband Lance of Manchester; two daughters, Kathy (Nick) Letts and Sara Billhorn, all of Manchester; her two grandchildren, Kayci and Lukas; six siblings, Wilma (Steve) Billhorn and LuAnn McQuillen, all of Manchester, Donald “Tiny” (Deb) Weigel of Strawberry Point, Marilyn Corcoran of Manchester, LaVonne “Lovey” Guetzko of Olathe, Kansas, and Joe (Anna) Weigel of Edgewood; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
MarJean was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathy Gorkow; her parents-in-law, Victor and Eileen Billhorn; and a brother-in-law, John Billhorn.
