Marilyn Babette Brown, 93, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. She was born on June 3, 1925, in Sterling, Illinois, to Harry and Anna (Beveroth) Blakeslee of Lanark, Illinois, where she was raised and educated.
On June 5, 1946, Marilyn was united in marriage to Lloyd Brown. Five children were born to this union. Through the years, Marilyn worked at Lovett and Dave’s Produce, The Box Factory, and Exide, all in Manchester, Iowa.
Marilyn was a member of the Strawberry Point VFW Women’s Auxiliary for several years and on the Resident Council at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. She enjoyed playing Bingo and doing crafts.
Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Brown of Manchester, Iowa, and Barbara Christensen Murphy of Reno, Nevada; two sons, David Brown of Stanwood, Iowa, and Kevin Brown of Fort Myers, Florida; a sister, Joan Scott of Savanna, Illinois; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Brown; her parents, Harry and Anna Blakeslee; a son, Gary Brown; four brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Arnold, and William Blakeslee; and one sister, Judy Hall.
