Mark Francis Williams

Mark Francis Williams, 51, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  He was born on January 17, 1968, in Manchester, the son of Francis and Dianne (Gassman) Williams.  Mark was raised in Manchester and was a 1986 graduate of West Delaware High School. 

On October 24, 1997, Mark was united in marriage to Sherry Lewin. One daughter, Olivia, his pride and joy, was born to this union.  In 1986 Mark began working for his father at Williams Electric.  Before taking over the business, Mark also worked at NAPA, Hendersons, and Tichy Electric. He owned and operated Williams Electric from 2004 until 2016. Mark then worked for Steve Moyle Masonry until October 2018.

Mark was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  Mark’s nickname was “The Mayor” as he enjoyed being a homebody. He loved to work out in his garage, tinkering on his vehicles, and creating many woodworking projects for his home. He had a passion for model railroading and loved a good road trip in his Malibu to find his favorite foods. Mark made yearly trips to the Thresher’s Reunion in Mt. Pleasant. He became a regular “wheel watcher” of Wheel of Fortune and any chance he had he would play one of his many train movies. Mark was the type of person who would drop anything to help a friend. He didn’t know a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Sherry Williams of Manchester; one daughter, Olivia Williams of Manchester; his mother, Dianne Williams of Manchester; his siblings, Cheryl Williams of Marion and Craig (Valerie) Williams of Maquoketa; two nieces, Tori and Sara Williams; and his parents-in-law, Poncho and Rita Lewin of Manchester.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Francis Williams; and one sister, Stacie Williams.
