Robert Edward “Bob” Larson, 86, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at his residence. He was born on September 3, 1931, in Clermont, the son of Leonard and Mildred (Burt) Larson. He was a 1951 graduate of West Union High School. Bob served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
On June 8, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Ardith Homewood in West Union. Four children were born to this union. The couple farmed near Edgewood until 1973 and then he worked as a mechanic for Gremmel’s. Bob then operated Larson’s Repair in Strawberry Point and later Larson’s Department Store in Edgewood. In 1994, Ardith passed away.
On November 26, 1994, Bob was united in marriage to Gayle Kell. They resided in Abilene, Texas. Bob enjoyed mowing lawns and fixing lawnmowers. They moved to Edgewood in 2018.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Larson; his four children, Connie (Dale) Conrad of Delhi, Bruce (Debra) Larson of Marion, Vicky Rodas of Lamont, and Sherilyn (Tim) Cook of Manchester; two stepdaughters, Brenda Mills of Abilene, Texas, and Penny (Rodney) Schumann of Novice, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Leonard (Rosalie) Larson, Jr. of West Union, Marilyn (Verly) Pollow of Waterloo, Louis (Jeannine) Larson of Montana, and Wayne (Janice) Larson of Fayette; and a sister-in-law, Betty Larson of Oelwein.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (Jerry) Brehme; and one brother, Jim Larson.
