Robert William Giesler

Robert William Giesler, 64, Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was born on October 1, 1952, in Deer Park, Ohio, the son of Harold and Betti (Johann) Giesler.

Raised and educated in Ohio and California, Robert later served honorably in the U.S. Army. He went on to get his B.A. in Human Resources Management from Lakeland University, Florida, and Clayton State University, Georgia. On December 4, 1976, Robert married Patricia “Patty” (Wyman) in Carmel Valley, California.

Robert worked in human resources with various employers around the country, including Hillshire Farms in Wisconsin, Gallo Salame in California, John Morrell in Nebraska, Sarah Lee in Mississippi, Benteler Automotive in Michigan, Public Power in North Carolina, and Lutheran Hospital in Colorado. He enjoyed making jewelry, listening to music, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco Giants. He especially loved spending time gardening and being with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Patty, of Manchester; a son Chris (Becky) Giesler of Manchester; a daughter, Stacie (John) Gossard of Manchester; three grandchildren, Ryan Gossard, Harrison Giesler, and Sophia Giesler; and five siblings, Cheryl (Dan) Haag of California, Linda Giesler of Ohio, James (Patty) Giesler of Kentucky, Jeannie Lucke of Ohio, and Daniel (Lisa) Giesler of Florida.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
