Theresa Diane (Techau) Heims

Theresa Diane Heims, 57, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at her home.  She was born on July 21, 1962, in Davenport, the daughter of Lawrence and Marian (Thien) Techau. Theresa was raised in Manchester and was a 1980 graduate of West Delaware High School. She later received her practical nursing license.

Theresa was married to Alan Pederson in 1980. Two children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. On August 30, 1996, Theresa was united in marriage to Francis “Frank” Heims in Manchester. One daughter was born to this union. Theresa worked at Marietta’s Place as a charge nurse for 20 years, until her health forced her to retire in 2017.

Theresa enjoyed shopping and traveling.  Her happy place was sitting on a beach. Theresa loved being with her family and especially loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Heims of Manchester; her three children, Lucas (Danielle Hutchinson) Pederson, Nikki (Jeremy) Ross, and Elissa (fiancé Kody Vorwald) Heims, all of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Mary Pederson, Hannah Pederson, Dylan Moser, Emma Pederson, Noah Pederson, Mason Ross, Aidan Ross, Chase Hutchinson, and Mason Hutchinson; her brother, Howard (Margaret) Techau of Washington, Iowa; one sister, Rhonda (Todd) Sachs of Phoenix, Arizona; her mother-in-law, Ruth (Richard) Welch of Pahrump, Nevada; her sisters-and brothers-in-law, Lynn (Doug) Cooper of Manchester, Kevin Heims of Edgewood, Marvin (Gina) Heims of Strawberry Point, Bill (Judy) Heims of Edgewood, Lila (Pat) Deutmeyer of Manchester, Lisa (Gary) Stout of St. Charles, Missouri, Lois (Steve) Rippel of Mt. Auburn, Lori (Steve) Bruzek of Cedar Rapids, LuAnn (Jim) Basemann of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Annette) Heims of Dundee, Karen Welch of Cedar Rapids, Kevin Welch of Cedar Rapids, Keith (Leila) Welch of Cedar Falls, and Kelly (Dave) Waterhouse of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Gilbert Heims; and former parents-in-laws, Lindy and Peggy Pederson.
