Alan Edward Philbrook, 59, of Gunder, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, after a battle with cancer. He was born on October 14, 1962, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Moser) Philbrook. Alan was raised and educated in Guttenberg and was a 1981 graduate of Guttenberg High School.
On June 23, 1990, Alan was united in marriage to Kimberly “Kim” Knospe. Alan worked as a cabinet maker across the United States, spending time in Boston, Seattle, Wisconsin and Iowa. In 2004, Alan attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Janesville. Due to health reasons, he retired after his schooling. Alan really enjoyed his computer games and reading.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kim Philbrook of Gunder; his sister, Vicki (Mike) Ethridge of Rockford, Illinois; one brother, Richard (Jennifer) Philbrook of Oregon, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and his baby girl, “Zeva”, the four-legger.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Herb Philbrook; his parents-in-law, Kay and Keith Knospe; a niece, Nicole Philbrook; a nephew, Darren Knospe; and two sisters-in-law.
