Annabelle “Annie” Louise Conner, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at her home in Greeley. She was born on June 28, 1938, in Greeley, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Monnahan) Menge. She attended Greeley Consolidated School.
On March 26, 1960, Annie was united in marriage to Larry Conner. Four children were born to this union. On December 13, 1994, Larry passed away. Through the years, Annie worked at Square D in Cedar Rapids, Hawkeye Castings in Manchester, and Ertl in Dyersville. In 1973, she began her most important job as her daughter Theresa’s lifelong caregiver.
In her free time, Annie enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson, keeping in touch with others on Facebook, and bragging about her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.
Survivors include her three children, Burdette (Bev) Conner of Edgewood, Brenda (Robert) Phelan of Greeley, and Bobbi (Curt) Troester of Marion; ten grandchildren, Billie (Josh) Thein, Becky Bahls, Amy (Allen) Polfer, Eric (Melissa) Conner, Cassi (Thayne) Spilman, Tanner Phelan, Megan (Brian) Copeland, Marisa (Clay Coe) Troester, Avery (Liz) Troester, and Travis (Heather) Phelan; 17 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Kaitlyn, Brady, and Kinsley Thein, Conner Bahls, Cora and Silas Polfer, Addison Conner, Tycen and Olivia Spilman, Easton and Emmitt Copeland, Dawson, Cameron, and the late Payton Coe; Sophia, Hadyn, and Kynick Phelan, and two more on the way; three sisters-in-law, Boone Menge of Garber, Virgie Menge of Manchester, and Marty Conner of Topeka, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Charles and Margaret; a daughter, Theresa Conner; a great-grandson, Payton Coe; and her siblings, Raymond, Norma, Burdette, Marvin, George, Mary Jane, Louis, and twin siblings in infancy.
