Ardella Elizabeth (Scherbring) Schlichte

Ardella Elizabeth Schlichte, 90, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on February 29, 1928, in Manchester, the daughter Herman and Mary (Fortman) Scherbring. She attended school through 8th grade at Petersburg.

On September 14, 1949, Ardella was united in marriage to Bernard Schlichte at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Together they farmed east of Greeley and then moved to Edgewood after they retired from farming.

Ardella attended church at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley and had been a long-time member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood. She and Bernard enjoyed dancing and playing cards.  Ardella loved baking and spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Elaine Hoefer of Manchester; five grandchildren, Jeff (Rhonda) Hoefer, Jason (Lisa) Hoefer, Kristi (Ian) Moeller, Lisa (Andy) Reth, and Matthew Schlichte; 14 great-grandchildren, Rachael, Jena, Jaron, McKenna, Ava, and Kota Hoefer, Keaton, Kinlee, Kessa, and Klia Moeller, Lacy and Tracy Reth, and Madeline and Autumn Schlichte; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ardella was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her parents; a son, Donald Schlichte; a grandson, Craig Schlichte; one brother, Elmer (Evelyn) Scherbring; four brothers-in-law, Clarence, Joe, Alvin, and Elmer Schlichte; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Pins.
