Benjamin Curtis Stone, 41, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Edgewood, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Ben was born on March 31, 1979 in South Korea. He came into his loving Iowa family on December 30, 1980, to join his brother, Tucker. Later, his two sisters, Johanna and Jennifer, joined this forever family. When Ben came to this home from Korea, he was starving and he didn’t trust anyone. But with lots of love and good food, that soon changed. Growing up, Ben always wanted to be a doctor. He would sit on a stack of old encyclopedias and read about medicine. Ben was a graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School. He then attended and graduated from the University of Iowa.
Ben worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals during college. After his graduation, he invented Clean Collect Blood Culture Kits, which prevented contamination of blood cultures. Ben then started his own company, patented his invention, and poured his life into getting this product to the world.
Ben loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved his nieces and nephews, Jenna and Carter Stone, and Aubrey and Rhys Belanger, and they loved their Uncle Benny.
Ben will be terribly missed by his parents, Curt and Barb Stone of Edgewood; his sister, Johanna (Gary) Belanger of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; his brother, Tucker Stone of Iowa City; his nieces and nephews; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Lavon Trumblee; his paternal grandparents, Chuck and Jennie Stone; and his sister, Jennifer Stone.
