Betty Billmeyer Obituary

Betty Lou Billmeyer, 73, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Mercy One Medical Center in Dyersville. She was born on December 24, 1946, in Dubuque, the daughter of Nicholas and Charlotte (Droese) Miller. Betty attended school in Dubuque.

 

On March 5, 1965, Betty was united in marriage to Alvin Billmeyer in Dubuque. The couple lived in Dubuque for a short while before moving to Colesburg. Betty worked as a foreman at Products Unlimited in Guttenberg for many years. Betty enjoyed reading. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

 

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Alvin Billmeyer, Sr.; her five children, Lisa (Barry) Wernke of Guttenberg, Alvin Billmeyer, Jr. of Strawberry Point, Alan (Autumn) Billmeyer of Guttenberg, Aaron (Ali) Billmeyer of Greeley, and Adam Billmeyer of Garnavillo; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Miller of Dubuque; three sisters, Marion Wiezorek, Jean Rubie, and Helen Ward all of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John, James, Lavern, Edward, and Robert Miller; one sister, Jane Palm; and four infant siblings, Loretta Miller, William Miller, and twins, Carolyn and Marilyn Miller.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.
