Beverly Kaye (Downs) Becker

Beverly Kaye Becker, 82, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away surrounded by family, on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  She was born November 26, 1941, in Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Charlotte (DuBois) Downs. Beverly was raised and educated in Dundee and was a 1960 graduate of Manchester High School. Beverly worked for Martin’s Bakery until the time of her marriage.

On June 10, 1961, Beverly was united in marriage to Donald Becker at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Four children were born to this union. While raising their family, Beverly also loved decorating and making flower arrangements. She enjoyed antiquing, caning chairs, and refinishing furniture. Beginning in the early 1970’s, Beverly and Donald owned and operated Becker Electric, with Beverly doing all the bookwork for the business.

Beverly was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook and baked wonderful pies. Beverly raised a large garden, canning all the vegetables and making jams and jellies. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include her children, Lisa (Mike) Waterman of Delhi, Carla (Perry Peterson) Becker of Manchester,

and Mark (Melissa) Becker of Manchester; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Becker of Manchester; sisters-in-law, Patricia Becker of Manchester, Marge Downs of Strawberry Point, and Sandra Becker of Enid, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Clarence and Lucille Becker; husband, Donald Becker in 2004; one son, Donald John, in infancy; a sister, Judy (Dale) Sandhagen; three brothers, John Downs, Donald Downs, and Ronald Downs; and brother-in-law, Larry Becker.
