Bill LeMar Welcher

Bill LaMar Welcher, 94, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  He was born on November 22, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John and Mary (Holland) Welcher. Bill was raised and educated in Mt. Pleasant and was a 1948 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Bill was a proud Marine and served honorably in the United States Marines during the Korean War.

On September 6, 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Donna Jean Joy in Waterloo. Three children were born to this union. The couple resided in Waterloo. In 1969 the family moved to Manchester. Bill worked at John Deere from 1969 until his retirement in 1991.

Bill enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in various sporting events. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them.

Survivors include his children, Larry (Denice) Welcher of Waterloo, and Vickie (Mike) Beatty of Manchester; 11 grandchildren, Matt Welcher, Travis Welcher, Brett (Mikki) Welcher, Brad (Amy) Welcher, Mary Jo Welcher (Travis Olson), Chad Welcher, Chris Welcher, Jamie Welcher, Tyler Welcher, Tim (Nikki) Beatty, and Mark (Nicole Christ) Beatty; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Welcher; son, Scott Welcher; grandson, Wade Welcher; great-granddaughter, Emma Welcher; and 12 siblings.
