Carolyn Ann Ehrig, 83, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on December 16, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska. Carl and Nina (Johnson) Anderson of Galva, Iowa adopted Carolyn in 1939. Carolyn was raised and educated in the Galva area and graduated from Galva High School in 1956.
On January 22, 1959, Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles Ehrig at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. Two children were born to this union. In 1989, Carolyn and Charles moved to Manchester. Carolyn was a homemaker for many years and in later years, she was also a janitor at West Delaware High School.
Carolyn was a long-time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. She loved going to rock concerts and enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Survivors of Carolyn include her daughter, Cindy Ehrig of Manchester; two grandchildren, Steven (Chelsea) Ehrig of Fort Rucker, Alabama and Ryan (Annie) Ehrig of Manchester; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Emma Ehrig; three sisters-in-law, Clarissa (Merle) Schumann of Ida Grove, Lucille Sievert of Temple, Texas, and Louise (Vernon) Barkley of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Ehrig; one son, Kevin Charles in 1973; three sisters, Bonita Hall, Patty Owens, and Judy Griffin; four brothers-in-law, Edgar Ehrig, Cyril Ehrig, Leo Ehrig and Robert Ehrig; and four sisters-in-law, Rita Skou, Arlene Ehrig, Norma Ehrig, and Catherine Ehrig.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
