Charles “Chuck” Edward Tryon, 72, of Oelwein, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on August 8, 1947, in Waterloo, the son of Charles and Ruth (Williams) Tryon.
Charles was raised in Lamont and graduated from Starmont High School 1965. He was a veteran of the Air Force, having been stationed in Thailand. Charles worked as a die setter for Northern Engraving in Waukon for many years.
Charles enjoyed his church and solving puzzles. He loved to figure out how things work. He was always smiling and loved to joke around.
Charles is survived by three sons, Charles R. (Cintya) Tryon, Chad (Ikha) Tryon, and Carlton Tryon; a daughter, Tammy (Brody) Williams; three grandchildren, Daniel, Rebecca, and Alyssa Tryon; his sister, Deb (Tim) Schloss; eight stepsiblings, Lyle Adams, Harlan (Virginia) Adams, Delores Guetterez, Blair (Janet) Adams, Bonnie Hankins, Larry (Brenda) Adams, Keith (Isabel) Adams, and Cheryl (Doug) Mason; a half-brother, Mark (Cathy) Adams; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces; and one great-great niece.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, James Adams; one son, Clifford; a brother, Ted; a sister, Becky; two stepsiblings, Kenneth Adams and Lynn Adams; three step-sisters-in-law, Ruth Adams, Shala Adams, and Betty Adams; two step-brothers-in-law, Pania Guetterez and Gary Hankins; and several nieces and nephews.
Because of the current Corona Virus 19 concerns, a private service will be held at this time. A memorial service will be planned at a later date for extended friends and family when larger groups can gather freely.
