David Ray Simpson, Jr.

David R. Simpson, Jr., of Marion, formerly of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born on January 5, 1968, in Manchester, the son of David Ray and Mary (White) Simpson, Sr. David was raised and educated in the Manchester area, attending West Delaware Schools. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably.

On December 25, 1997, David was united in marriage to Nicole Hutchinson.  Three children were born to this union. They were later divorced. David lived in Manchester before moving to Strawberry Point in 1996. He worked at Henderson’s and Triangle Plastics in Manchester. David also worked at SMI in Strawberry Point, finally working at REM in Cedar Rapids, taking care of people with developmental disabilities.

David enjoyed fishing and camping. Most of all David enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his children, Jacob Simpson of Marion, and Abigail Simpson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kim Nelson of Marion and Larry Horak of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Andrew David Simpson, sister, Jeanelle (Robert) Bothwell; two brothers, Mark Simpson, and William Simpson in infancy.
