David Eugene Thompson

David Eugene Thompson, 76, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday June 2, 2022, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.  He was born on November 27, 1945 in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Royal Washington and Lillian (Dahooge) Thompson.  Dave was educated in the Greeley, Colorado area and was a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in May of 1965.  Dave was a truck driver with Paris & Son’s in Masonville and later with Simon’s Grain in Manchester for 16 years until his retirement.

On a visit to his sister in Iowa, Dave met the love of his life, Judy. On June 14, 1975, Dave was united in marriage to Judith Stickley at the United Methodist Church in Manchester. Two children were born to this union. The couple lived in the Manchester area until moving to town in 1989. Dave enjoyed road trips and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his two children, Teresa (Brad) Moore of Maynard and Troy Thompson of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Brad Mast and Riley Sickels; his three brothers, Jerry (Mildred) Thompson of Montrose, Colorado, Rick (Lisa) Thompson of Colorado, Dennis Thompson of Colorado; his sister, Lynn Woellert of Dundee; his sister-in-law, Jan Stickley of Independence; and nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judith Thompson, his brother, Don Thompson and his brothers-in-law, Lynn Woellert and Jerry Stickley.
