Dedra Long Obituary

Dedra Ann Long, 60, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa.  She was born on July 1, 1961, in Manchester, the daughter of James and Vanita (Beaman) Mangold, Sr. Dedra was raised in the Ryan area and graduated from West Delaware High School.  She also attended Kirkwood Community College. Dedra worked in housekeeping for the Super 8 Motel in Manchester.

 

On June 11, 2005, Dedra was united in marriage to David W. Long at the Eagles Club in Manchester. Together they raised two children. They lived in Dundee until David’s death on April 14, 2009. Dedra then moved to Manchester.

 

Dedra was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church. She had leadership roles on some Wednesday evening services.

 

Dedra loved her pet cat, Buffy. She enjoyed walking, traveling, and helping people. Dedra liked watching TV shows, especially WWE with her kids, and Lifetime movies. Dedra collected unicorns and her one vice was Dr. Pepper. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandson.

 

Survivors include her two children, Tina Mangold and fiancé, Michael Kiefer of Mason City and Randy Miller, Jr. of Manchester; her grandson, Kelly Mangold of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Linda (Doug) Keenan of Cedar Rapids; her brother Jim (Ruth) Mangold, Jr. of Coggon; her half-brother, Don (Karen) Sill of Lake Rathbun; her sister-in-law, Judy Sill of Melrose; and nieces and nephews.

 

Dedra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; her two half-brothers, Rusty Sill and Jerry (Joann) Sill; and two nephews, Jason Mangold and Tony Sill.
