Delbert Paul Aldrich, 71, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020, at his cabin home in Bloomfield. He was born on April 29, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Earl and Marie (Connolly) Aldrich. Delbert graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi in 1967, and attended two years of trade school. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971.
On May 5, 1979, Delbert was united in marriage to Diane Fessler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. Three sons and a daughter were born to this union. For many years the couple lived in the Earlville area and for the past 15 years in Manchester. Delbert was in the lumber business, in sales and construction, for 40 plus years.
Delbert enjoyed cruising in their Corvette. He and Diane visited all 50 states during their married life. Delbert liked meeting people, spending time at the cabin, and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Diane of Manchester; his three sons, son-in-law, and 11 grandchildren, Chris (Tina Tucker) Aldrich and children, Rylie and Peyton Aldrich, and Tyson and Taya Tucker of Earlville, Rusty (Jenni) Aldrich and their children, Logan, Isabella, Sophia and Jackson Aldrich all of Lamont, and Matt Aldrich of Dubuque; his son-in-law, Jamie Gray, and children, Emma, Claira, and Dominic Gray all of Hopkinton; his sister, Karen (Richard) Cole of Delhi; his mother-in-law, Betsy Fessler of Earlville; 13 sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda Aldrich of Mount Vernon, Ann Fessler of Durango, Don (Bev) Fessler of Manchester, Bob Fessler of Omaha, Nebraska, Bill (Connie) Fessler of Biloxi, Mississippi, Jack (Ann) Fessler of Keosauqua, Karen Wulfekuhle of Dubuque, Randy (Nicole) Dunkel of Des Moines, MaryJo (Dana) Walhovd of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Chuck Fessler of Manchester, Donna (Dave) Offerman of Earlville, Cindy (Doug) Engelken of Dyersville, and Karla (Jerry) Downs of Delhi; and many nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Michelle (Shelli) Gray on November 6, 2019; his twin brother, Dave Aldrich; his father-in-law, Robert Fessler; and sister- and brothers-in-law, Shari Dunkel, Mike Fessler and Mike Wulfekuhle; and his nephew, Brian Fessler.
Because of COVID-19, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home and at the church.
