Delevan Henry “Del” Timmerman, 68, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 15, 1957, in Manchester, the son of Willis Frederick and Clara Marie (Ahrens) Timmerman. Del was raised in the Strawberry Point area and was a 1976 graduate of Starmont High School. After graduation, Del worked for his dad at Timmerman Construction. He also milked cows and farmed.
Del was united in marriage to Lisa Pettit. Three sons were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Del had been with his beloved partner and best friend, Darla (Parkinson) Kelchen, for 27 years. In 1992, Del incorporated and took ownership of Timmerman Construction. Del was a founding member of Mission in Christ Lutheran Church.
Del loved to mow and take care of his animals. He enjoyed playing cards and poker night. He loved when anyone stopped at the shop to visit, especially after 5:00 p.m. Del especially enjoyed Elvis Presley music and dancing. He was honored to take the Freedom Flight with Auldi Adams. Del enjoyed his neighbors and friends, loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his three sons, Beau (Randi) Timmerman of Strawberry Point, Chase (Olivia) Timmerman of Strawberry Point, and Lane (Amanda) Timmerman of Albia; his beloved partner, Darla (Parkinson) Kelchen of Strawberry Point; three bonus children, Dusty (Carla) Kelchen of Mt. Vernon, Jessie Cooksley of Newhall, and Jennifer Poppe of Marion; 16 grandchildren, plus one on the way; four siblings, Rita Crawford of Des Moines, LeRoy (Anne) Timmerman of Pleasant Hill, Barbara (Doug) Hobbie of Zion, Illinois, and Rozella (Bill) Green of Strawberry Point; his godmother, Luella (Howard Boswell) Linderwell of Dothan, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Clara Timmerman.
