Donald Gary Steger, 56, of Elkport, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 26, 1969, in Manchester, the son of Harold and Mary Jane (Meyer) Steger. Don was raised and educated in the Elkader area and was a 1988 graduate of Central Community High School.
After his graduation, Don worked at Nordic Forge in Guttenberg for several years. For the past 30 years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for C. J. Moyna and Sons in Elkader. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and going on Sunday drives. Don especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his father, Harold Steger of Elkport; 13 siblings, Mary Lou Robinson of Greeley, Linda Bestler of South St Paul, Minnesota, Gary (Karon) Steger of Cashton, Wisconsin, Jim (Joan) Steger of Earlville, Tom (Connie) Steger of Strawberry Point, Bonnie Steger of Elkader, Mike (Beth) Steger of Plum City, Wisconsin, Lori (Victor) Pugh of Manchester, Loras (Lisa) Steger of Strawberry Point, Deb (Roger) Worm of Ryan, Alan (Amy) Steger of Elkport, Dave (Tracey) Steger of Edgewood, and Amy (Corey) Firzlaff of Epworth; sister-in-law, Pam Steger of Strawberry Point; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Steger; brother, Steven Steger; and brothers-in-law, John Robinson and Al Bestler.
