Donna Mae Metzger

Donna Mae Metzger, 74, of Garber, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. She was born on May 23, 1948, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Clark) Konichek in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Donna was raised and educated in the area and graduated from Prairie du Chien Catholic High School.  She then attended two years at a tech school in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.

On June 5, 1971, Donna was united in marriage to Steven Metzger, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  Three children were born to this union.  They lived in Wisconsin until 1977, when Donna and Steve moved to Clayton County, Iowa.  Donna worked as an administrative assistant and worked the last seventeen years at Clayton County Health and Zoning.

Donna enjoyed polka music and playing her accordion. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, feeding the birds and spending time on her computer.  Time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Metzger of Garber; her children, Mark Metzger of Amana, David Metzger of Garber, and Amy (Adam) Baker of Elkader; her four grandchildren, Abigail, Allison, Andrew and Ashton Baker; her mother, Dorothy Konickek of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; her four siblings Carolyn (Clarence) Bierman of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, Floyd (Susan) Konichek of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Paul (Judy) Konichek of Austin, Texas, and Mary (Greg) Mandigo of Alma Center, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Leo Konichek.
