Doris Pearl Ludovissy, 96, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, Iowa. She was born on February 20, 1924, in Mallory Township, Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Blanch (Hansel) Stewart. Doris attended Mounds School in Clayton County and received her GED at Peosta.
On September 12, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Mervin Ludovissy at the Methodist Parsonage in Manchester. Two children were born to this union. The couple farmed northwest of Edgewood for 29 years. After selling their farm in 1974, they moved to Edgewood. Doris was a housewife and also babysat. Mervin passed away on December 30, 2004.
Doris enjoyed sewing, gardening, genealogy, and playing cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved them very much.
Survivors include her two sons, Curt (Sandy) Ludovissy of Amana, and Rick (Julie) Ludovissy of Palo; three grandchildren, Jason (Jewel) Ludovissy of Amana, Chelsea (Richard) Peickert of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Chad (Lilia) Ludovissy of Williamsburg; four great-grandchildren, Gisele Ludovissy, Dylan Peickert, Brayden Peickert, Ayden Ludovissy, with one on the way; one sister, Wanda Amsden of Elkader; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Stewart of Elkader; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mervin Ludovissy; two brothers, LeRoy Stewart and Gary Stewart; and one sister-in-law, Leanna Stewart.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, masks are requested at the church.
