Duane Arlen Rissler

Duane Arlen Rissler, 95, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at his home. He was born on March 14, 1926, in Manchester, the son of Everett and Millie (Franks) Rissler. He was raised and educated in Manchester. During his senior year in high school, Duane was drafted into the United States Navy. He served his country honorably during WWII on a ship in the South Pacific.  After his discharge, he returned home and finished school.

On June 30, 1950, Duane was united in marriage to Dorothy Bradley. Four children were born to this union. Duane worked as a mechanic for various car dealerships in Manchester. He enjoyed working on cars and doing bodywork. Duane also worked as the head mechanic at the West Delaware Bus Barn. He retired in 1990.

Duane loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and being outdoors. He loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his four children, Connie (Roger) Miller, Jeffery (Jane) Rissler, Roger Rissler, and Shelly (Todd) Nylund all of Manchester; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy and Chad Miller, Laura (Joshua) Holtz, Rachel (Shane) Leytem, Matthew (Sarah) Rissler, Sara (Leroy) Soppe, Nickie Larson, Holly Combs, Nicole (Jamie) Vaske, Brandon Lane, and Stephanie (Keith) Kintzle; 22 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and a sister-in-law, Randee Rissler of Arvada, Colorado.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Rissler; his brother, Everett “Butch” Rissler; and his sister, Evelyn (Thomas) Delancey.
