Eunice Gertrude Diers, 89, of Colesburg, Iowa, was reunited with her loving husband, Paul, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in Heaven, on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She passed away at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. She was born on August 10, 1928, in Colesburg, the daughter of Harvey and Gertrude (Barnhart) Koeneke. Eunice was raised and educated in Colesburg.
On August 26, 1948, Eunice was united in marriage to Paul Diers in Colesburg. Three daughters were born to this union. Eunice was an amazing mother who taught her children right from wrong. She sewed all of her children’s clothes and Barbie Doll clothes, too.
Eunice was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Colesburg. For the past four years, Eunice was a resident at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. A huge thank you to the entire staff who cared for Eunice with loving and tender care.
Survivors include her two daughters, Paula (Thomas) Holland of Mentor, Ohio, and Sue (John) Hamilton of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren, David Steil, Jennifer Holland, Amy Kephart, Michael Holland, Doug Steil, Andrew Holland, Candice Burris, and Crystal Whilden; 19 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, David Steil of Colesburg.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Diers; her daughter, Patricia Steil; and two sisters, Marge Ozburn and Nancy Squires.
