Gary Paul Bockenstedt

Gary Paul Bockenstedt, 80, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo. He was born on December 30, 1943, in Dubuque, the son of Paul and Germaine (Nurre) Bockenstedt. Gary was raised and educated in Edgewood and was a 1961 graduate of Edgewood High School.

Gary was a lifetime farmer who farmed on the family farm near Strawberry Point. He enjoyed trapshooting and deer hunting. During his younger years, Gary was on a Strawberry Point rope pulling team. He liked bowling and playing cards. Gary enjoyed going to tractor pulls. His true passion was farming. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his brother, Danny (Janet) Bockenstedt of Strawberry Point; brother-in-law, Howard Hansel, Henderson, Nevada; niece, Gwen Bockenstedt of Lamont; nephew, Dennis (Katie) Bockenstedt of Strawberry Point; one great-nephew, Mason Downer; and two great-nieces, Madelyn and Maxwell Bockenstedt.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Hansel; and nephew, Chris Hansel.
