George Joseph Amling, 55, of Greeley, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at his home. He was born on May 13, 1966, in Elkader, the son of Gene and Helen (Tibbott) Amling. George was raised and educated in the Elkader area.
George worked at the Dubuque Packing Company. He also worked for Amling Construction, the Edgewood Locker, and was a farm hand. George enjoyed hunting raccoons and farming. He also enjoyed working with George Bockenstedt, taking care of the cows.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Amling of Greeley; his son, Evan Andrews of Dubuque; his five siblings, Marcus (Deb) Amling of Elkport, Mary (Steve) Aulwes of Elkport, Gene Amling, Jr. of Garber, Charles Amling of Elkport, and Carl (Tammy) Amling of Garber; twelve nieces and nephews, Marie, Frank, Crysta, Matt, Trevor, Kelcee, Tanner, Brooke, Mason, Sawyer, Spencer, and Ariel; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, Lexi, Piper, Kael, Racy, Sutton, Charlee, Jaxon, Josie, Hesston, Forest, and Leah; and aunts and uncles, Merwin Tibbott and Alvin (Sarah) Tibbott all of Greeley, Margaret March of Stanley, Dedria Tibbott of Greeley, and Joyce Amling of Cedar Rapids.
George was preceded in death by his father, Gene Amling in 2005; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Clara (Gerloff) Amling; his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Adelia (Kruger) Tibbott; and aunts and uncles, Bud and Lois Tibbott, Charles Tibbott, Roger Tibbott, Ronald March, Tom Amling, and Harlan Staade.
Because of COVID-19, masks are recommended at the funeral home.
