Grace Margaret (Stimson) Crippen

Grace Margaret Crippen, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on June 19, 1934, in Masonville, the daughter of Oliver and Margaret

(Jones) Stimson. Grace attended country school in rural Earlville and was a 1952 graduate of Earlville High School. Grace worked at the Manchester Bakery for five years.

On January 23, 1955, Grace was united in marriage to Dale Crippen at the United Methodist Church in Lamont. Three daughters, Kathleen Ann, Karen Sue, and Karla Jo were born to this union. The family resided in Hiawatha for 40 years before moving to Manchester. Grace worked at Collins Radio for 13 years and then as a head cook for the Cedar Rapids School District for 35 years. Grace enjoyed baking, sewing, and playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dale Crippen of Manchester; a daughter, Kathleen Crippen of Marion; two grandchildren, Travis Crippen of Strawberry Point and Saysha (David) Valandingham of Marion; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean (Norma) Stimson of Decatur, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Betty Drievold of North Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Karen Klinefelter and Karla Jo Jones; and three siblings, Fern (Bob) Clang, Chuck (Deloris) Stimson, and Frances (Dean) Carradus.
